A vehicle you no longer rely on can still make a meaningful impact. Donating is one of the easiest ways to move on from a vehicle that has become more of a burden than a benefit. Through Goodwill Car Donations, you can put it toward something far more rewarding.
Your contribution helps generate funding for programs that support people in your community who are working to overcome unemployment, financial hardship and life-limiting disabilities through job readiness and other supportive services.
We coordinate the paperwork and vehicle pickup from beginning to end. You may also qualify for a tax deduction while avoiding future expenses.
What Happens After You Decide to Donate?
Getting started by calling (866) 233-8586 or completing the online donation form with a few basic details about your vehicle.
Once your information has been confirmed, our team will contact you to arrange a pickup time that fits your schedule. Your vehicle can be collected from where it is currently located, and the towing is always provided at no cost to you.
After your vehicle is sold, we complete the remaining paperwork and send you a tax-deductible receipt to keep with your records.
Why Is Your Donation So Valuable?
Your donated vehicle continues helping others in need long after it leaves your property. The proceeds generated from its sale support programs that give people access to employment preparation, educational opportunities and other services that help them build greater independence.
At the same time, you benefit by eliminating the ongoing costs of owning a vehicle you no longer need. Depending on your individual tax situation, your donation may also qualify for valuable tax benefits.
Which Vehicles Can You Donate?
We welcome many different kinds of vehicles, including:
- Cars
- Vans
- SUVs
- Trucks
- Motorcycles
- Boats
- RVs
- Campers
- Golf carts
- ATVs
Running condition is often not required. Oftentimes, donated vehicles are no longer driven regularly or have mechanical problems. If you are unsure whether your vehicle qualifies, contact us and we will gladly review your situation.
What Should I Know Before Donating?
For information about tax deductions and answers to other questions you may have about the process, read more frequently asked questions here.
Do I need to be present for the pickup?
No. If you cannot be available, we can explain how to complete a simple contact-free pickup.
How soon can my vehicle be picked up?
Most vehicles are picked up within one to two business days after your donation has been arranged.
Can I donate if I cannot find my title?
Proof of ownership is necessary because abandoned vehicles cannot be accepted. If your title has been lost, our Title Department can often help you request a replacement.
What if my vehicle has an inherited title or multiple owners?
Inherited vehicles and vehicles with "and/or" ownership can often be accepted. Contact our team for guidance based on your state’s title requirements.
How Should You Prepare Before Pickup?
Before your scheduled pickup, verify that your title has been completed correctly. If you are uncertain where to sign, contact our Title Department before making any changes to avoid unnecessary delays.
Next, remove all personal belongings from the vehicle. In many states, you should also remove your license plates and return them to the Department of Motor Vehicles according to local requirements.
When the tow driver arrives, you will receive a towing receipt. Keep this document in a safe place because you can use it when canceling your vehicle’s insurance policy and registration.
