If you have a vehicle that no longer fits your needs, donating it can be a simple way to create positive change while clearing valuable space from your life. Instead of continuing to spend money and time on an automobile you rarely use, you can turn it into support for programs that help people overcome challenges and build brighter futures.
Your donation helps fund services that assist individuals facing barriers such as unemployment, limited access to education, financial hardship and life-limiting disabilities. These programs help people develop valuable skills and move toward greater independence. By donating a vehicle you no longer need, you become part of a larger effort to strengthen your local community and create opportunities for those working toward a better future.
The process is designed with your convenience in mind. You do not need to worry about organizing a sale of your vehicle yourself. Everything is managed for you from start to finish. You may also qualify for a tax deduction while eliminating ongoing costs associated with owning a vehicle.
How Does the Vehicle Donation Process Work?
Getting started is easy. Simply call (866) 233-8586 or complete the online donation form. You will be asked to provide basic information about your vehicle, including its make, model, condition and location.
After your information is reviewed, a pickup appointment will be arranged at a time and place that works best for you. Whether your vehicle is parked at your home, workplace, repair facility or another approved location, transportation is provided at no cost to you.
Once your vehicle is collected, our team takes care of the remaining steps. We manage the sale process the whole way through and provide the documentation you need for your records. After the vehicle is sold, you will receive a tax-deductible receipt that may be used when preparing your taxes.
Why Does Your Vehicle Donation Matter?
A donated vehicle can have a lasting impact on people throughout the Wilmington area. Proceeds generated from vehicle sales help support programs focused on employment readiness and other services that help individuals achieve greater stability and self-sufficiency.
Your donation also benefits you directly. An unused vehicle often continues to create expenses long after it stops being useful. Registration fees, insurance costs, maintenance bills and repairs can quickly add up. Donating allows you to eliminate those responsibilities while putting the vehicle to a productive use.
In addition, many donors may qualify for a tax deduction based on the vehicle’s final selling price or fair market value, depending on individual circumstances and applicable tax regulations. That means your unwanted vehicle can provide value both to your community and to you.
What Vehicles Can Be Donated?
Many types of vehicles may qualify for donation. Accepted vehicle categories often include:
- Cars
- Vans
- SUVs
- Trucks
- Motorcycles
- Boats
- RVs
- Campers
- Golf carts
- ATVs
Vehicles do not always need to be in excellent condition to qualify. Many running and non-running vehicles may be accepted, including those with mechanical problems, cosmetic damage or failed emissions tests.
Eligibility can vary depending on several factors. If you are unsure whether your vehicle qualifies, contact our team and we will be happy to review the details with you.

What Should You Do Before We Pick Up Your Vehicle?
Before pickup, make sure all ownership documents are completed correctly. If you are uncertain where to sign the title or have questions about the paperwork, contact our Title Department before making any changes.
You should also remove all personal belongings from the vehicle. In many states, license plates should be removed and returned to the Department of Motor Vehicles according to local requirements.
At pickup, the driver will provide a towing receipt. Keep this document for your records, as it may be useful when canceling insurance coverage and updating registration information.
Beyond Donating, How Else Can I Help My Community?
If you would like to support local residents in additional ways, consider reaching out to organizations that connect volunteers with community service opportunities. The Delaware Department of Health and Social Services, Division of Social Services may be able to direct you toward programs that assist those in need, particularly individuals and families experiencing financial hardship. The New Castle County Department of Community Services often works with housing and community development initiatives that benefit residents in need. You can also contact the Delaware Division of Public Health to learn about volunteer opportunities related to support services for vulnerable populations.
