The organization was founded in October 1954 in downtown St. Petersburg, where it began by helping a small group of people with disabilities gain work skills and paychecks.

Today, Goodwill-Suncoast helps thousands of people overcome barriers to employment through training and employment programs, affordable apartment communities for seniors and people with disabilities, rehabilitative community corrections programs, and other support services
