World UFO Day: 3 Best ‘UFO Sightings’

Staring at the night sky, you probably can’t help but wonder if we’re truly alone. We’ve made leaps and bounds ever since we ventured into space in the early 1960s. However, despite all the space explorations we’ve made, we still don’t know much about the universe.

On July 2nd, we celebrate World UFO Day, a day created to bring awareness about the mysterious flying objects that have been sighted in our skies. It’s also a day that commemorates the alleged UFO crash at Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947.

Celebrating World UFO Day on July 2nd encourages everyone to entertain the possibility that we are not the only intelligent beings in the universe and that some extraterrestrials might have visited us in the past.

If you’re a believer yourself or you’re at least open-minded about the possibility of life outside our planet, taking part in the celebration of World UFO Day might just excite you.

The event was first organized in 2001 by WorldUFODay.com. Enthusiasts and conspiracy theorists use this occasion to come together and discuss all things UFO-related — evidence, sightings, witnesses, you name it!

Some say the unidentified flying objects are proof that aliens are checking in on our progress. Others fear that UFO sightings are a precursor for an alien invasion. Some others claim that they’re already here but are being hidden by the government. All sorts of believers are welcome to ponder the mysteries of the universe on World UFO Day.

3 UFO Sightings You Need to Check Out

One of the best ways to celebrate World UFO Day is to check out the most popular UFO theories and claims that have been made so far. If you’re living near an area considered to be a “hotspot” or where a sighting occurred, then you’re in luck! You’ll be able to celebrate World UFO Day alongside other enthusiasts and believers.

Take a look at three of the best sightings of unidentified flying objects made so far:

  1. Roswell crash

Considered to be the cream of the crop when it comes to UFO sightings, the Roswell incident of 1947 still boggles the mind more than 70 years since it happened. Military officials said the “flying saucer” was actually a weather balloon that fell from the sky. However, some people doubted it.

  1. Sighting in Tehran

On September 19, 1976, in Tehran, Iran, people saw a bright light in the sky. The government sent a fighter jet to investigate. However, its equipment blacked out as it got nearer to the source of light, forcing it to return to base. A second jet took off and managed to radar lock the alleged UFO. However, according to the pilot, the unknown object released something glowing and caused his instruments to malfunction.

  1. Kenneth Arnold’s sighting

On June 24, 1947, civilian pilot Kenneth Arnold claimed to have sighted at least nine blue UFOs flying at an estimated speed of around 1,500-1,700 mph holding a V formation over Washington state. There was never a proper or credible explanation by the government about Arnold’s sighting, only stating that he could have merely been hallucinating.

The Real Issues We Face Much Closer to Home

As we open our minds to the possibility of extraterrestrial life on World UFO Day, let’s give a thought to the real issues faced by people living much closer to us — in our community. These are the individuals who are burdened with disabilities, lack of education, and other personal hindrances that prevent them from finding stable and decent jobs and living productive and meaningful lives.

If you have an old car that’s been lying unused in your garage for ages, you can transform this into a tool that can help uplift the lives of your less fortunate neighbors. All you have to do is to donate that beater to Goodwill Car Donations.
